塑膠微粒會造成魚類健康的科學研究論文被爆造假！

2016年六月，一流期刊Science發表了一個震驚世界的論文。北歐Uppsala大學的Oona Lönnstedt 和Peter Eklöv 博士發現，魚的幼苗會把塑膠微粒當浮游生物吃食，並會損害健康影響生長造成毒素。此重大研究馬上讓各國禁止販售含塑膠微粒的產品。
但瑞典中央論文道德審核會經過長達十個月的調查發現，這兩名海洋保育科學人士居然憑空捏造科學數據，甚至連研究都沒做完。不僅他們在研究基地待的時間其實比聲明的短，他們之前面對質疑時還曾撒謊說數據放在電腦裡後來電腦被偷了。論文現在正在進行正式撤銷程序，兩名科學家從此研究生涯不保。
唉。雖然論文被撤銷也不代表塑膠微粒就沒壞影響，只是，這告訴我們，即便我們都急切的想要世界正視海洋保育，但嚴謹而真實的研究與報導，才是最重要的！散播不實資訊只會造成反效果！

June 2016, first tier journal, Science Journal, published a groundbreaking study. Drs. Oona Lönnstedt and Peter Eklöv from University of Uppsala found that fish larvae preferred ingesting microplastic than plankton, and their health and development are harmed and poisoned consequently. This impactful research paper soon caused the banning of microplastic-containing products to be sold in many countries.
However, after 10 months of investigation conducted by the Sweden's central ethical review board, it has been revealed that these two ocean environmentalists fabricated scientific data, and they didn't even conduct most of the studies. They didn't stay in the research center long enough to conduct the experiments as they reported in the paper. They even claimed that the full data was stored in a computer which was later stolen. This research paper is in the process of being retracted and the research lives of these two scientists are at edge.
Sigh. The fact that this paper is retracted doesn't mean microplastic is safe. However, this tells us that even though we all eagerly want the world to face the ocean conservation problems, truthful and meticulous research and reports are the most important things! Spreading fake information can only push things backward.
